The Instagram shopping feature allows brands to place their products in the Instagram shop, create a catalog, and reach their audience.

Click the View Shop button on the brand’s Instagram profile to access the Instagram shop. This button is advantageous for the brand, allowing them to combine all products and services in one place.
You might also notice a product on your Instagram feed that is on sale. You can purchase by clicking on the product in the Instagram shop.

2. Can you sell directly from Instagram?

Yes, to answer quickly. If your eCommerce business is starting and your budget is limited, you don’t need to allocate a significant portion to website development. Instagram can sell items to customers using compelling content and product images.

3. How much does Instagram shop cost?

Setting up and using Instagram shopping is completely free, with only interest charges arising. The selling cost on Instagram is 5% per shipment, consistent across all product categories.

A fixed fee of 40 cents applies to shipments costing $8 or less. Taxes and other payment processing fees are included in the selling fee.

4. How many followers do you need for an Instagram shop?

There is no follower limit to use the Shop feature on Instagram. You can create an Instagram shop even with a small number of followers. However, when you reach 10,000 followers or more, you can use the swipe-up feature in your Instagram stories.

5. How to set up Instagram shopping?

5.1. Determine your eligibility:

Before you begin, ensure that:

  • Your company has a qualifying product.
  • Your Business has a website with a verified domain.
  • Your Business complies with Instagram commerce policies.

5.2. Convert to an Instagram Business or Creator Account:

To use the Instagram shop, you need a business account. You can convert your Account to a business one or create a new one. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to your profile and tap the upper right corner.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Tap Switch to Professional Account.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Select a Category for your Business and tap Done.
  7. Tap OK to confirm.
  8. Tap Business.

5.3. Connect to a Facebook Page:

  1. Go to your Business’s Instagram profile.
  2. Choose “Edit profile.”
  3. Choose “Page” under “Public business information.”
  4. Select a Facebook Page to connect.
  5. If you don’t have a Facebook Page, create one.

💡Note: A Facebook Shop is not required, just a Facebook Page.

5.4. Upload Your Product Catalog:

This catalog includes pictures, prices, and descriptions of your products and services. There are two ways to do this:

  • Catalog Manager: Import products to your catalog using Commerce Manager.
  • E-commerce Platform Partner: Use platforms like Shopify or BigCommerce.

5.5. Instagram account review:

Once your catalog is posted, review your Account:

  1. Go to your Business’s Instagram profile and tap the menu icon.
  2. Choose “Settings.”
  3. Sign up for the store.
  4. Follow the instructions to submit your Account for review.
  5. Check your progress in “Shopping” under “Settings.”

5.6. Turn On Instagram Shopping:

  1. Go to your Business’s Instagram profile and tap the menu.
  2. Choose “Settings.”
  3. After selecting “Business,” select “Shopping.”
  4. Pick the product catalog to link to your Account.
  5. Choose “Done.”

6. How to add products to the Instagram shop?

To add catalog items:

  1. Tap the three lines on the top right while in your store.
  2. Select Add New from the Manage Products menu.
  3. Include an image for the item you want to sell (at least 500 by 500 pixels).
  4. Tap Save when finished to include the item in your catalog.
  5. Add the item’s name, description, and other information.

Note: Submit a content ID for the item that matches its content ID in the Meta Pixel code on your website to appear in Advantage+ catalog advertising.

7. How to set up an Instagram shop without a website?

You can design a simple shop without a website by adding an online order form to your Instagram bio. Use a tool like Getform to construct one quickly and include the link in your Instagram bio.

8. How do you get approved for Instagram shopping?

To get approval for Instagram shopping, ensure you have an online store. Instagram Shoppable posts are only available to those with an e-commerce platform integrated with Instagram. If you are still awaiting approval, consider contacting Facebook directly for an update.
After approval, you will receive a notification in the Instagram app, allowing you to activate the product tagging feature on your Account.

9. Why Is Instagram Not Approved for Shopping?

If Instagram shopping is not approved, it means your profile may have issues such as:

  • We do not have the latest version of Instagram.
  • You are not setting up a business profile (personal profiles will not be approved).
  • Do not upload a product catalog via Facebook.
  • Not actively selling physical goods (no services).

10. How do I create an affiliate shop on Instagram?

To create Instagram affiliate shopping:

  • Directly earn commissions by generating posts, Stories, or Reels with affiliate product tags.
  • Include sticker product tags on the products.
